You were not created to play small.

Today’s guest is Lila Harstad, Owner/General Manager of Rugby Broadcasters, Inc. She originally started in radio—while not being in any way connected to her original field of study—then got promoted to General Manager of KZZJ Radio in November of 1999 and became the only sole female owner of a Radio Station in North Dakota in January 2003.

Lila and Rebecca discuss the challenges Lila overcame to become a female-owned business in a male-dominated industry, despite the extra hurdle of also being a transplant.

Often times, we tell ourselves that if we don’t use the original degree we obtained or if we fail to “stick to the plan” we originally set for ourselves, that we are somehow failing.

Lila encourages us to remember that nothing is ever wasted and that with the right mindset, even someone who’s not originally “from here” can make anything happen.
