It’s been said that whatever we focus on, expands.
That’s certainly true in a broad sense, but it also applies directly to relationships.
Watch today’s quick video to see what I mean…
Whenever I find myself frustrated with a person in my life, if I’m being honest, I can admit that I’m focusing on all the things that drive me nuts about them.
Isn’t that weird? How easy it is to fall into the trap of only paying attention to the things we don’t like about someone?
Today, if you’re having a tough time with someone in your life, jot down a few things you find redeeming about them. (Just a few. And yes. There has to be something. Even vile people have some little thing to contribute to the world.)
Arm yourself with those thoughts. Focus on those positive aspects. It won’t change the other person but it will certainly change your perspective on who they are. And that can change everything.
After all, I can’t imagine any of us would appreciate being defined by only our worst qualities. Why would we want to do that to someone else?
Choose your focus. It always is a choice.
